  1. Question 1 of 4
    1. Question

    Let’s get ready to listen!

Please read through the new lines and (only if you want to) look at the grammar explanations below. Then move on. If you have a grammar question, put it in the comments and I’ll do my best respond.

    • How many words here are new to you?

  2. Question 2 of 4
    2. Question

    Here’s where the learning starts!

Please listen as many times as it takes to get to 80% comprehension. If there are words that are difficult, use this trick : https://youtu.be/o99Ma4Ml8JY

    https://fluentlistener.com/wp-content/uploads/Tanguy_Exercise_2C.mp3

    • What percentage of the words do you hear now?

If you did not get to 80% after 10 listens, that is okay. Move on to the next step. You will hear the missing words later, after your ears have had time to improve over the next few weeks.

  3. Question 3 of 4
    3. Question

Here is a lesson to help you hear some things you may not have noticed.

    https://fluentlistener.com/wp-content/uploads/Tanguy_Exercise_2C_matching.mp3

Now that you’ve heard the lesson, do you want to listen a few more times before moving on?

    https://fluentlistener.com/wp-content/uploads/Tanguy_Exercise_2C.mp3

    • What percentage of the words do you hear now?

If you did not get to 80% after 10 listens, that is okay. Move on to the next step. You will hear the missing words later, after your ears have had time to improve over the next few weeks.

  4. Question 4 of 4
    4. Question

OK, now that you understand 80%, let’s make sure we can understand without the transcript. (If you need to peek, do so: it’s not cheating!)

I am on day 4 and still have a hard time following the interview. I am a beginning level A 1 student and I feel this is way above my level. Should I continue because it is not really helping my level of listening?
The speed is really too fast for a beginner.

    Thanks, Gilda

      Hi Gilda,
sorry that I saw your question so late. In that case, you might want to work just on vocabulary with some reading. That way, you are only doing one thing at a time. The problem is finding the right kind of texts – ones that are made for adults but with a restricted vocabulary. I have a story on the site (https://fluentlistener.com/easy-reading/) but haven’t taken the time to add more stories. You might try looking for “graded French readers” on the internet.
Thank you for trying the recordings.
      Best regards,
      David
